Recreational or trail proposals

If you have a trail proposal or other recreation proposal, please complete the questionnaire and email the completed form to recreation@coillte.ie.

Recreation Permits & Licences

Individuals can walk and hike on all Coillte lands, and cycle in selected sites, without the need for a permit.

However, for most other activities you will need a permit. This includes all walking and cycling groups and events with more than 30 participants and anyone guiding or leading another person/ group on Coillte lands.

To APPLY for your permit, fill in your details in the boxes below and hit submit. (NOTE permit request must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of the event).

Permit requests can only be applied for on laptops or tablets, the system does not allow applications from mobile devices.

Events and updates

In heavy snow/ice conditions, we may have to close some car-parks and recreation sites, at short notice.

In a 'Red' Wind warning, you should not enter any forest area.

We will keep you updated on closures on our Events and Updates page.

Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trail Diversions

A section of the Ballyhoura MTB trail is currently closed between Poles 22 and Pole 24 on the Green loop as trail maintenance work is being carried out. The trail will be closed for approximately four weeks.
